My wife Robina and I had the great pleasure of having Rob, Heidi and the boys visit our French holiday houses at La Bigorre for many years. Their visit, along with other regulars such as the Barker family was always a high spot of our very busy year, and at the end of it we were usually exhausted. I remember how well Rob would always be found directing children’s games with his strong voice booming out over the site. Rob was Mr Dependable, always wanting to help with whatever fun was being organised. He was the best boules player by a mile and we all vied to be on his team for our evenings of boules, peanuts and Leffe beer. We usually managed to head to St Genis de Saintonge for go-kart racing around the tremendous 1200m track. This was always highly contested with Rob often coming out on top no matter how much we tried to knock him off the road, that’s his competitive spirit winning through. It’s terrible sad to lose Rob so young, after having put up such a brave fight for so long. Heidi, Thomas and Liam have been wonderful in their support, and I know all Rob’s family and friends, and indeed Rob himself, will have been very proud of them.
